Challenge

The brief was challenging: limited content, but a clear goal to blend data visualization with marketing to boost engagement and sponsorships. We organized into three competing teams for the pitch, each with a lead and two designers. Our team happened to be all women, and we leaned into creativity—designing dynamic charts with placeholder data while crafting original illustrations and icons that celebrated San Francisco's culinary scene and local culture.

Results

Our team won the AIGA committee's approval with our approach: data visualizations and custom icons unified by bold typography. We took inspiration from geographic isometric maps, adapting that style to our icon system and balancing it against strong type. We couldn't have been happier with the outcome.
